Several Changes as Magazine Relaunches

The NOVA Baseball Magazine relaunches operations with a new format, several new features, and an extended coverage area in 2016.

All magazine content is now available to all of our readers as we have dropped the annual subscription program for premium content, thus enabling our feature stories and other great features such as our ‘Catching Up’ and ‘In the Dugout’ columns to reach everyone in the Northern Virginia baseball community.

We have extended our coverage area to include Fauquier County, Stafford County, Spotsylvania County and the City of Fredericksburg, which will increase our coverage reach to 79 high schools and will add Mary Washington University to our collegiate coverage that already included George Mason University and Marymount University.

We will focus more attention on video features, game highlights and broadcasts, many of which will be submitted by our readers. We have added a message board feature for those in the baseball community to banter about local baseball at the youth, travel, high school and collegiate levels.

Additionally, the magazine will have a more structured editorial calendar: including weekly feature stories on Tuesday and Thursday; editorials on Saturday; ‘Around the Diamond’ notebook updates on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (and possibly Sundays, though even the mag will need a day off); a ‘Player of the Week’ announced each Monday through October; our ‘Northern Virginia High School Top 10 Poll’ announced each Friday until the middle of June; and the e-Magazine release at the end of the month and made available in PDF format and to be ordered in print.

We are starting the year out as a one-man band - editor & publisher Joey Kamide - so will again lean on the baseball community to submit content, photos, Player of the Week nominees, and story ideas. We’re going to seek interns to help broaden our coverage, and will immediately begin prospecting local Northern Virginia businesses with the several advertising opportunities we have.

We are excited about the relaunch of the magazine, and everyone please bear with us as we get the ball rolling and look to build on the momentum we created in 2015.
