TESTIMONIALS

JUSTIN JANIS, OAKTON - “NOVA Baseball Magazine is the site I go to check out baseball coverage of the Northern Virginia area. It provides the best analysis of youth, high school, college and pro baseball teams and players from our area.”

JAKE NORMAN, COLONIAL FORGE - “NOVA Baseball magazine is the place to go to check out what is happening during the spring high school season, but also to get updates on what current and past baseball players and coaches are still doing on the field but also off the field in the community!”

MORGAN SPENCER, SOUTH LAKES - “The NOVA Baseball Magazine has become the area’s top baseball media outlet.   What I love about the magazine is that it is current and correct. They do a fantastic job of getting input from the high school coaches, and with that, readers are getting up-to-date info directly from coaches. In addition, the magazine does an outstanding job covering the area’s youth baseball and even follows local players as they continue their careers in college and pro ball. It truly is a one-stop shop for all things Northern Virginia baseball.”

SAM PLANK, RIVERSIDE - “The Magazine has been a breath of fresh air for local baseball. It is great to see so many great players recognized, both current and past. The magazine is your one and only stop for baseball coverage in NOVA!”

OUR EDITOR & PUBLISHER - The Magazine is operated by editor and publisher Joey Kamide, a longtime baseball coach and member of the local media in Northern Virginia. Kamide has coached at the travel, high school, summer collegiate and international levels since 2005, and has served as a sports writer, editor and broadcaster at the local, regional and national levels since breaking into the field as the student newspaper sports editor at Herndon High School and George Mason University. He has worked as a freelance sports writer for the Associated Press in Washington, D.C., covering the Washington Nationals, Washington Redskins and George Mason University basketball. Kamide previously served as the sports editor of The Connection Newspapers and The Observer Newspapers, worked as a sports reporter for Times Community Newspapers, and has done play-by-play and color commentary for Fairfax Sports Network and Gameday Magazine.

OUR TEAM - The Magazine's editorial staff includes Josh Belanger, our lead writer who hails from Northern Virginia and graduated from James Madison University with a degree in Media Arts & Design. Belanger wrote for his student newspaper at JMU, and has also written for the Outside Pitch Sports Network and as an intern with The Connection Newspapers. Additionally, our intern pool of writers are assigned ‘beats’, and we will be expanding our staff to include a full-time sales person and paid freelance writers and photographers as we move into the expansion of our media platform in 2017.

OUR HISTORY - Established in February 2015, the Magazine includes a daily website, monthly digital magazine and seasonal audio podcast covering baseball in Northern Virginia. The magazine’s coverage area includes thousands of youth, travel, high school and collegiate players in the counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William, Spotsylvania and Stafford. We currently cover 80 high schools in those counties, four Little League districts, teams from the Northern Virginia Travel Baseball League (NVTBL), area showcase summer and fall teams, American Legion teams, local collegiate summer league teams from the Cal Ripken Sr. Collegiate Baseball League and Valley Baseball League, the teams from George Mason University, Marymount University and the University of Mary Washington, and players from the area now playing at the professional level.

OUR FUTURE - The Magazine plans to expand its media platforms to print and broadcast in 2017. This expansion will include a monthly print magazine that will be mailed to subscribers and distributed to advertisers and area high school coaches. Another exciting expansion will be to broadcast media, which will include regular video features throughout the year, in addition to a seasonal podcast, seasonal webcast TV show, ‘NOVA Baseball Weekly’, and a ‘Game of the Week’ broadcast series during the spring and summer months.

OUR SOCIAL MEDIA - The Magazine's followers can find our stories promoted and linked on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. Using our social media pages is an outstanding way to attract readers from the Northern Virginia baseball community, and also to showcase our advertisers through our 'social media shoutouts' on a regular basis.

OUR SELECTION COMMMITTEE - The Magazine's selection committee picks our weekly Northern Virginia Top 10 Poll during the high school season, and the NOVA Nine Team, Player of the Year and Coach of the Year from the 80 high schools in our coverage area following each season. The committee included 21 coaches and members of the media in 2016 - Kyle Padgett (Bishop O'Connell), Chris Warren (Episcopal), Eric Crozier (Potomac School), Jake Norman (Colonial Forge), Justin Janis (Oakton), Morgan Spencer (South Lakes), Robbie Smith (South County), Jack Ferrick (Osbourn Park), Adam Wells (Edison), Andrew Baird (Stone Bridge), Craig Lopez (Mountain View), Ryan Price (Heritage), Matt O'Saben (Fauquier), Wayne Todd (Loudoun Valley), Aaron Tarr (Marshall), David Fawcett (Prince William Today), Dave Facinoli (Sun Gazette Newspapers), Jon Roetman (The Connection Newspapers), Angela Woolsey (Fairfax Times), Jeff Malmgren (Fauquier Times) and Mike Colangelo (At-Large).

OUR ADVERTISING OPTIONS - The Magazine offers several advertising opportunities on its website, weekly newsletter, monthly digital magazine, and seasonal podcast. Those opportunities will expand to include options to advertise in the monthly print magazine and our broadcast media platforms in 2017.  The rates are low, and offer local businesses a fantastic opportunity to reach the thousands of players, coaches, parents and family members, and fans in Northern Virginia.
